I have a boat load of discontinued Crane Grey Flannel stationery but no matching envelopes. These Crown Mill envelopes are so close in color that I am very pleased and more encouraged to write letters than I have been in quite a while. I will order more very soon.

These envelopes are very good for use with a5 paper. They feel very sturdy and durable, and they hold up in the mail very well. I've used sealing wax with them as well, and they work fine with that too.Writing on these envelopes is very nice, though they feather some. I haven't had any issues with them bleeding though. My problems with these envelopes are that they have a liner in them. This liner helps to stop bleeding, however it has pealed away from the outer part of the envelop, and it catches whenever you try to place a letter in the envelope. I've fought with this liner from minutes at a time whenever I go to send a letter. I finally have decided to trim the liner wherever it pulled up, which works to a point.

I naught these as a compromise. The envelopes that I had initially wanted by G. Lalo were out of stock, so I ordered these to go with the ivory writing tablet I got. I'm glad I did! The color is perfect and the quality is outstanding. I will definitely be buying more when I run out!

These definitely add a touch of class to anything you put into the post -- I'm particularly fond of the subtle grey shade, much less offensive to the eyes than white, or even cream. I got these so that I could use my pens and brush pens with ink to do artwork on envelopes for letters, and these don't disappoint. While they are a bit less 'smooth' than say, clairefontaine, and shading doesn't quite pop out as much, the experience is pleasant and the feel of the paper in the hands is nice.

If you use Crown Mill Classic Laid paper then why not use Original Crown Mill Classic Laid envelopes? The envelopes are impressive because of the flap which has a sharp angle and folds nicely and because the envelopes are lined. If you are sending a note hand written on quality paper with a fountain pen the right finishing touch mail well be these fine quality envelopes.
