Either thicker inks or finer pens

I wasn't expecting my Medium pens to spread, feather and bleed so much. I was using a Diamine Inkvent Snowstorm, DeAtrementis red, Montblanc red and Colorverse Hyabusa and all but the Snowstorm feathered and bled through. The ink spread so much it looked like a Broad nib instead of a medium. Dry time was definitely quick. I wouldn't recommend this paper for wet nibs or inks, but maybe very light inks and finer nibs would work, or Calligraphy nibs which use a thicker ink. I'm betting this paper would be great with my dip pen and maybe Dr. PH Martin's Gold or Copper, maybe even Windsor Newton Gold. I just can't use it with my fountain pens.

Nicely textured, sturdy paper

This paper has a nice texture as expected of laid paper. It sucks in ink quickly and dries quite fast, with very light feathering when using wetter pens. Because of the matte texture and quick drying time, sheening inks don't get much chance to leave a sheen, so this paper is best used with plain inks. Glitter inks still work fine. The subtle color is quite nice.

Reliable, dignified, understated.

This is a very reliable brand. This particular paper is good for brief notes, or to post a notice. Ordinarily I prefer smooth paper, but this is textured in a way that makes it distinctive to read and to hold, without unduly interfering with the writing experience.

Color is not so much pale grey as it is slightly...khaki-grey

Hi. Yes, as others have noted, laid paper has a surface that does not play well with fine and extra-fine nibs but seems to work great with mediums and wider. My stub isn't a great match with it, either. BTW, G. Lalo's version of laid paper is definitely more laid than Crown Mill's is, which is significantly smoother/less textured. I prefer the look and feel of the Lalo for paper, but since I tend to write with finer nibs, the Crown Mill is a little more forgiving. Anyway, I had had a G. Lalo grey paper and thought that's about the color I was getting here, but noooo.... so the colors of ink I was going to use do not look lovely on it and I am sad. A little. However, it is -- maybe one way to put it is a VERY warm grey rather than a cooler tone. Noodler's El Lawrence is a beautiful match, but I had been planning 54th Massachusetts and Pilot I's Shin-Kai for this paper. Alas, no. A grayish-khaki is what it seems to my eye. Just so you know. I kind of like it, in fact I may love it since El Lawrence is a favorite ink, but it's not what I was going for this time. Dear Goulet, can we get some grey-er paper, too? And in a bigger size? -- Love, a happy customer. / PS: there was zero bleed-through with a Konrad jade ripple ebonite flex-nibbed pen that writes wet, with El L. and some pressure, and no feathering. Also the questions about the paper are hard to answer: it's meant to be a textured paper, laid is, but this company's laid is significantly smoother than another's.

Light Pink

The baby pink is a lovely color that is feminine without being overly girly. Works well with most fountain pen inks.
