Good Buy!

This ink is very smooth to write with. It is not as dark as I thought it would be, but it is a good color.

Love this ink

I bought this ink as a sample for my pilot metropolitan and loved it so much, I just bought the cartridge set. This ink is so black and dries up so quick. You won't be disappointed with it.

Mediocre

Decent flow, not very dark. Smells terrible. This is an ink which will rot on my shelf because it is just so eclipsed by carbon black, nano black, eel black, polar black, x-feather!

Great ink for a the Moleskine sketchbook

this is a nice black ink--not the blackest but very nice. I use this ink in my Moleskine sketchbooks which have a very strange almost waxy coating that makes other inks like Aurora black bead up on it. Namiki black does not do that. It also has a smell i really like but no one else does. people are really disturbed when I tell them to smell my pen!

Perfect for dry arts

It's just arrived here, and I made the first tests - perfect. I used a QuoVadis bought here in GouletPen too. No bleed through, no slow dry, no feather. Just perfect. I use this on a Namiki Falcon SF flex nib that is also available here. And I must say that this specific set of pen/ink/paper (in this case, any fountain pen friendly paper) will be used for like 99% of my inking arts. When I am in some situation that requires water resistance, I will go to some Noodler's Black and Platinum Carbon Black. Namiki Black doesn't act good with washes. But I recommend totally for general dry use.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
