A message from Robert Oster:

My great interest in fountain pen inks – and by extension inks that combine many creative applications – began with the birth of my love of fountain pens in 1989.

As Robert Oster Signature Inks are quite recent to the market, think of the interim between 1989 and today, as the fertile ground into which my present love of all things ink was seeded and grown.

The contents and packaging of my Inks are all nature friendly and the colours a genuine inventory of the Australian palette.

Robert Oster Signature originates from one of the most famous wine producing regions of the world, the Coonawarra district of South Australia, an idyllic setting with great influence on the senses. There is my inspiration. It’s a joy to share it with you.

Deep, complex green

Seeking an alternative to the Lamy Petrol limited edition ink, I gave this colour a try and was NOT disappointed. This is a deep, complex green that feels great on the page and looks lovely on readback. With a medium nib lamy safari this flows smooth, dries fast. Both sheen and shading are moderate if used on really good (ink resistant paper). Pretty solid green-black if used on cheaper/absorbent paper. Good resistance to feathering/spread on non-FP-friendly paper. Comes in a lightweight but sturdy conveniently skinny, recyclable plastic bottle. I've gone through my first 50ml and am here for my second bottle, so yep, I'm a fan.

Not a fan

Looked straight black out of an EF and F nib. Had to smear it to detect any color. I didn't get any sheen with the tests I did, nor did I get any of the green really. Just a black-grey with maybe the slightest hint of green. Nothing special.

Love this color!

I got this ink originally as a sample and fell in love with it. It has just enough hint of green to feel like you're writing with something special, but it's still dark enough to feel professional as well. I keep it in my everyday pen in bag and it goes everywhere with me.

Not my style, but seems like a good enough ink

Got this as a random sample! In terms of hue, it's teal to my eye, or at least a very bluish green. In terms of saturation, it's very desaturated. In terms of brightness, it is very dark. At a distance, it might as well be black. It does not fit my personal taste: if I am buying color, I want it to pop. But that does not make this a bad ink. It flows well and dries very quickly on cheap paper. -1 star because of poor water resistance.

Pine green

This ink is a dark blue-green like the ocean at night or near-black pine needles. It has good shading for a dark and strongly pigmented ink. Above all, it's best quality is how smoothly it flows. I use exclusively fine and smaller nibs and it glides over the paper without puddling and the bleed through that causes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
