Beautiful Shading Red

I ordered a slew of Robert Oster ink samples recently and this is one of my favorites. I inked my TWSBI fine nib eco and it writes beautifully. The ink is on the drier side compared to the more saturated blues in the RO line, like Tranquility, but it performs and behaves well in the TWSBI. There is quite a bit of shading capability in this ink, though I have only seen the tiniest hint of the silver sheen as of yet, even on Tomoe River paper - that might just require a wetter/broader pen. This red is on the warmer/orange side compared to something like Diamine Oxblood, my other favorite red ink. I will definitely be ordering a bottle.

My New Favorite

This is a beautiful red ink. I can't stop using it (which is about to present a problem, since I've just drained the last possible bit from my sample vial and Goulet is utterly sold out). Please, I *need* more!

Beautiful ink!

I bought four samples of the Robert Oster ink. They're beautiful and unique. So far my favorite is the Moss, but I'll keep using them and then decide on one or two to buy in a full bottle. Flows smoothly in my Waterman Expert fountain pen.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
