Pilot Vanishing Point Fountain Pen - Raden Galaxy
The Raden Vanishing Point is a spectacular example of Japanese Maki-e artistry, displaying the beauty of multi-colored abalone shells in a rich, hand lacquered urushi finish. Each piece of abalone shell is hand-cut and hand-laid into the pen. This fountain pen comes with a retractable rhodium-plated 18k gold nib - just click to expose or retract the nib. A hidden trap door helps keep the nib from drying out when not in use. A Pilot CON-40 converter is included with this pen, as well as a Pilot ink cartridge. A metal cartridge cap is also included for use with the ink cartridge. Each Vanishing Point fountain pen is beautifully merchandised in a black gift box.

Always wanted this pen and I remember when it first came out. It writes buttery smooth in the Medium. The aesthetic of the pen is absolutely beautiful and completely worth it for me. Pairs really well with diamine polar. Glad to finally add this pen to my collection.
Long time Goulet customer. I bought my beauty so long ago the Galaxy was the only Raden style VP offered on the Goulet site then. I think the VP series is by and far the most reliable retractable gold nib pen. I love my Lamy Dialog 3 but it is far more prone to drying out. Any one of the VP models (I have a Matte Black and a "Stormtrooper" I like them so much) makes for a beautiful and more importantly functional pen. If you can squirrel away the ducats or come into a windfall then get one of these beauties. Think of it as functional art. For millennia artisans have adorned their tools. Why not you? Even your shopping list will take on a new gravitas. You need abalone in your life.
