This comfortably balanced Estie Botanical Gardens is offered in a fountain pen with gold-plated trim. The material is blended and turned acrylic with a mix of colors and a highly-polished finish. A sleek clip provides a clean accent for the cap and slides easily into a shirt pocket. A cushion cap closure provides a secondary seal to ensure a wet point. The Estie fills via standard international cartridge or converter (included).

The Estie fountain pen is equipped with a gold-plated #6 JoWo steel nib. In addition to the normal nib sizes, this pen is also available with select specialty nib grinds including the Journaler, Needle Point, and Techo:

  • The Journaler Nib, by Gena Salorino, is a medium nib ground to a stub with wide downstrokes and thinner cross-strokes.
  • The Needle Point Nib, by Kirk Speer, is a superfine point that's perfect for smaller writing and Japanese characters.
  • The Techo Nib, by CY of Tokyo Station Pens, features line variation depending on the pen's angle. Thicker lines appear at a lower angle, and thinner lines at a higher angle.

More on the Botanical Gardens from Esterbrook:

With Spring in the air and the months getting warmer, what better time to celebrate the beauty of nature than with a new pen? Introducing Botanical Garden, the latest from Esterbrook. Using our high-quality acrylic, we have created a pen that doesn’t just
pay homage to springtime gardens –but celebrates them. In each pen, you will find a kaleidoscope of floral accents, from greens to blues, deep reds to oranges, all displayed in a crackle-like pattern that intrigues the eye and inspires the imagination.

Note: JoWo is transitioning their nib designs from the old scroll pattern to a more simple design. Stock is currently mixed; what you receive may not necessarily match what is photographed.

Classic feel in a modern pen

I selected the Botanical Gardens pen with the Journaler nib to add to my collection of Esterbrook pens. The size, weight and solid feel of these pens in addition to the nib options makes it a great choice. My favorite of the modern nibs is the Journaler which is a finer sized stub. It reminds me of the vintage nibs in old Esterbrooks, which I can still use because of Esterbrook's section adapter. I'm thrilled with this addition.

A very wet writer!

I'm very pleased with this pen. I like wet writers and this fits nicely in that category. The nib is ver smooth as well. Plus, the pen is very beautiful!

Beautiful Pen

This particular pen has been sitting in my wishlist for a while and I was able to order it for my birthday. It is wonderful! It writes beautifully and the journaler nib is lovely. I also enjoy the way the cap closes so securely. The photo was taken outside in the sunlight.

Journaler nib

I love the variety of colors in this pen. Looks to me like a meadow of wild flowers. Best part is that I can use any ink since I typically color match inks to pens. Love the Journaler nib! The subtle line variation and smoothness is very enjoyable. One of my most favorite pens!

Great comeback for Esterbrook

I just have this one pen from Esterbrook and one of their pen cups. I enjoy them both for everyday use and as treasured items. The botanical gardens looks great with just about every ink I've used in it, despite the crazier pattern. The journaler nib grind makes it even better.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

For even more information about fountain pen cleaning, check out our Fountain Pen 101 video blog post.
