LAMY AL-star Fountain Pen - turmaline
The LAMY AL-star is the aluminum big brother to the LAMY safari. The smoky grey translucent triangular grip section makes it great for those starting out who have no idea how to hold a fountain pen, but it's used and loved by fountain pen lovers of all levels of experience.
This teal blue aluminum AL-star comes with an interchangeable silver steel nib, which can be easily swapped out for another size. This fountain pen comes with a blue LAMY ink cartridge so you can get started writing right away.
If you'd like to use bottled fountain pen ink, you can also purchase a LAMY Z28 converter.

Note: To ensure quality performance, LAMY tests their pens as a final step in manufacturing. If you happen to see any residual blue ink, rest assured that this is normal.

The fine tip is excellent for annotating in books (bold enough for visibility but no bleed-through in the variety of books I've tried) and of course for regular note-taking and writing. I feel the price is appropriate for this pen. Further, I had an issue that required customer-service attention, and the attention I received was prompt, courteous, and efficient.
I had a LAMY All Star pen which I use for daily work. Unfortunately, I let it roll off the desk and, no surprise, it landed on the nib and bent it all out of shape beyond repair. I thought I would replace it with another LAMY and am just delighted with its performance in all respects. LAMY makes a great product!

This is my 2nd Lamy fountain pen, and it did not disappoint! My other one is the Safari, and I much prefer the finish on the AL-star. As always, I'm in love with the color options Lamy has. The purchase and delivery were seamless, too.
This pen is my first venture into second tier beginner pens. It's an excellent writer, smooth and clear. It's also attractive and easy to use. It's a little light for my taste, but I like that it's aluminum, not plastic. It caps very tightly, and posts securely. This is not a perfect pen, but it's a very good one, and an excellent value for the price.
