Beautiful ink with lots of shading

This ink is one of my favorite inks now. The color and the beautiful shading provided makes a full page of it look like you're staring at raindrops on a window pane. I love it in a stub nib. It inspires me to copy down my favorite bits of poetry or book passages.

Badly behaved for sketching

I'm not a big fan of the consistency of this ink or how it feels to draw with. It seems thin and watery, and the flow is inconsistent, sometimes dry and scratchy, and sometimes watery and dark, almost black. It's not just shading, it's something wrong with the ink. It makes the paper soggy in spots, and it becomes difficult to cross hatch since it will bleed into itself. I'm not a fan and I'm glad I tried the sample first. The color is nice but this is not fun to use. I got another Pilot Iroshizuku ink to try as well in Tama-gachi and that color has none of the issues this one does.

Lovely steadfast grey.

Beautiful light grey, dark enough to read and light enough to be soothing. Dries quickly, resists water drops.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
