Depends what you need it for.

I think if used with a water based marker or most regular size nib fountain pens this notebook would be just fine. It's nice and thin and portable. Quite inexpensive as well. The paper is smooth for the price but not as smooth as the best I've ever touched. I bought this along with a little Clairefontaine book ($4.50) and a Rhodia dotpad ($5.75) of similar paper size to use as practice books with some Pilot Parallel stub nib pens. This book is the one I am using for the 1.5mm stub and I feel I've made a mistake. It feathers pretty badly and bothers me but not enough to stop using it for practice. For this purpose in the future I would happily go with either of the other notebooks that I tried and spend a bit more. The Rhodia handles the 3.0mm Parallel like a champ and the Clairefontaine handles the 1.5mm with only a tiny bit of feathering. I've included a backside photo of this one and I would say it bleeds through a little. I do use plastic sheet in between pages so I don't know whether the ink from the 1.5mm would go onto the next page without the plastic.Wish I could give it a 3.5 stars overall but I'll round up since I'm sure it behaves better when not used with a calligraphy sized stub nib.

A lot of feathering in broad qnd stub nibs

I dont like this paper... Dont have the shading that people hype about It and have too much feathering in broad ans stub nibs.

One of the best papers I have used

The Apica CD-11 notebook is great. The paper is smooth and I am using it to test nib types and inks. This appears to be a good standard for testing my inks. My rating is based on only using several different inks. I expect the rating will be the same for other inks I test in the future.Of course it is just a great all around notebook. I would certainly it purchase again.
