This turquoise blue fountain pen ink features added copper pearlescent shimmer. Shimmering inks work best with broader nibs on high quality paper to really see the shine. De Atramentis fountain pen inks are exclusively handmade in Germany by Dr. Franz-Josef Jansen, and come in a 45ml glass bottle.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens. We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging. You will also want to be diligent about cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

Note: De Atramentis is in the process of changing their bottled ink lids. What is pictured might differ from what you receive. We cannot honor special requests.

My favorite ink

I buy a LOT of different inks and swap out colors often. Every time I rediscover this color, I am baffled how I don't have it in permanent rotation.Yeah, it clogs a bit but beauty comes with a little pain. Well worth it

Beautiful, but it clogs

This is a really nice color. However, it clogs up the feed and nib. So maybe I won't be buying this one again.

Very very cool ink

This ink has plenty to offer. The base blue color is great on its own and with copper glints intermittently laying in is a fantastic accent. The negatives- I have to swirl my pen about every other sentence to keep the copper suspended and evenIf not you'll get one rush of copper , really heavy and almost illegible because it's too reflective than you'll get a paler flat blue. When ink is properly mixed even the base blue is darker. I can not recommend this ink for converters. This ink routinely burps out, both from the nib and out the back of the converter in the barrel. It's a fantastic stain filled mess. These are not issues I have with inks that don't contain flecks so I believe that to be the cause.

Second-favorite blue shimmer ink

This is my second-favorite ink match for my Lamy Safari in Aquamarine. At first, the shimmer came out more of a silver color. This ink dries copper, though. I do not have flow issues with my Safari medium nib. The ink looks great on a variety of paperRhodia, Leuchtturm, Clairefontaine, Tomoe River, and even Fabriano Eco-Qua!

What a color! Like writing with magic

This ink is beautiful. Simply gorgeous. One of the many things I love about writing with a fountain pen is the unique colors available. Keep in mind that this bottle needs to be shaken quite vigorously to disperse the metallic particles before filling your pen, and that your first words/sentences will be more shiny than later writing. At least, that's my experience. That said, this ink is utterly magical.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.
