She buys you a Sailor 1911S Wicked Witch of the West pen (because my grad school's color is purple) and a bottle of Sailor Ink Studio 950 to go with it. (I bought her a Lamy Studio EF and a bottle of Bernanke Black, because I'm trying to get my lefty to adopt fountain pens.) Personally, I think a pen with that name should be filled with bilious green ink, but bilious green isn't a color from any school I attended. The ink color is so heavily saturated it is black in most light, with just a hint of purple showing in warm light. It is a beautiful ink. It is an ink I could take to work except that I work in a regulated industry and I must follow the standard operating procedures. Our SOPs require (1) blue ink (not black, not purple) and (2) ballpoint pens. A point has been stretched to permit roller balls, but fountain pens are a huge no-no. I'd reflect on using acetone to lift ballpoint signatures, but that would be a digression. The ink works beautifully in the WWotW (EF nib), which is where it will be used for at least a year due to Sailor's warranty requirements. If I ever run out, I would buy another bottle: it's good in my journal and for personal letter writing for those times when I want something other than Midway Blue or Pilot Blue. It doesn't seem to be terribly paper sensitive. It's okay on 20 lb copier paper and it's way better than okay on the Caselli notebook I'm journaling in right now and in the At-a-Glance calendar I use to track my time in. It's a dream on Mnemosyne paper. I can't speak to water resistance .

It's beautiful and perfect for work.

I wanted a subtle, almost-black purple that would flow nicely in a fine nib. This one fits the bill perfectly.

I wanted some ink to use in my new pen. I got this ink (and a few others) to use in a Monteverde Invincia Nebula pen to match the pens color. Don't take my advice! I am now thinking of spending even more money at Goulet on pens and inks and papers. I've seen where Brian doesn't think ink should be pluralized. If your talking of several inks of differing hues or colors wouldn't that be plural, like monies? Anyhow, I am thinking of more pens, more inks and to **** with my bank balance. OK, bottom line, the ink is great. I have resisted buying Sailor pens as I have heard using other inks in their pens can void the warranty and I like my other inks at least as well as Sailor's.
