De Atramentes Mint Turquoise

Bought this ink to match color of new fountain pen. Matches perfectly and ink flows and writes well!

This may be my new favorite ink!

In December a friend made me a homemade Invent calendar using Goulet samples. It was SO cool! Of all the inks she used, this was my favorite. The shading is incredible, and the mint turquoise shade gives me all the feels and somehow perfectly matches both my green pens and my greenish blue pens. It's also very wet ink, but for me doesn't feather, even on cheap paper. I used the first sample up, bought a second sample from Goulet which I quickly used up, and finally bought a full bottle. Give it a try! It's awesome.

Gorgeous sea glass light teal

In using this with a glass dip pen, it was almost unusably wet/fast flowing and came out a very emerald green- nothing like the photos. But as soon as I put it in a Lamy Safari with a Lamy M nib, it became this gorgeous sea glass blue/green shade. What a lovely surprise! It still flows relatively thickly, making my M nib more of a B nib, but I enjoy it. The pictured sample (which doesn't do the color justice), is on Tomoe River 52 gsm white paper.

Very wet, but pretty hue

I tried this with my glass dip pen, which has a very fine point, and found it difficult to write legibly because the ink is so wet. It's a pretty shade and there is some shading, but you can see from the photo that on Tomoe River 52 gsm white paper, it lays down thick (I shook the vial gently between dips). I'm a fountain pen newbie, and right now I'm too intimidated to try this ink in my stub nib. Maybe in a fountain pen with a fine or medium nib, it'll be more consistent and not as wet? Color-wise, it's a mid-tone green with blue undertones, which I find pleasant and legible.

Little to recommend

There is little about this I could recommend, and I am not really sure what the manufacturer was trying to do. The ink flows way too freely the line width spreading noticeably beyond what the nib laid down. It is pale and shades a lot, but the overall shading seems to come and go inconsistently. It does not look pretty on the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
