Beautiful but so dry

So pretty on the Col-o-ring, lots of beautiful chromo shading.. But so far, its dry and doesn't show chromo shading in writing in a broad nib in writing on Tomoe River paper. Based on the other reviews there's probably a magic combo to see the shading in writing but I haven't found it yet.

Beautiful shading, lovely grey to dusky violet

If I write the sample vial dry in a few weeks, I think that means I liked it. This one has wonderful shading, and is well-behaved like you'd expect from a Robert Oster ink. I found this ink can vary from more grey to more lavender in a way that was very dependent on the paper, but it was a pleasant and very readable hue everywhere. This is an absolute winner in my book.

The most lovely lavender

It's great with shading and I find myself wanting to order more than just a sample of this ink for future use!

It's a good ink but might not be for me

I love the color, it shades wonderfully but it feels a tad too dry. I'm using a Fine Bock Nib and it just feels like the ink is not flowing easily. I might try it again in a broader nib or a different pen altogether. Overall, not a bad ink.

Need this everyday

Love this ink! Color is subtle and easy to read. Perfect when you want a moody purple grey with shading. Came right back to get a full bottle.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
