A 2ml sample of Pilot Iroshizuku Hana-ikada pink fountain pen ink, in a labeled plastic vial.

Hana-ikada (花筏), translated as Flower Raft of Japanese Cherry, is inspired by beautiful cherry blossoms collecting gracefully on top of a flowing a river. This is a gorgeous, rich pink hue.

The name Iroshizuku is a combination of the Japanese words Iro; 色彩 (Coloring), expressing high standards and variation of colors, and Shizuku; 雫 (Droplet), that embodies the very image of dripping water. These gorgeous Iroshizuku inks have been inspired by beautiful Japanese environments. Each ink name derives from the expressions of beautiful Japanese natural landscapes and plants, all of which contribute to the depth of each individual hue.

The only pink for me

I can't imagine any other pink being as visually satisfying. It is perfectly readable even on a darkish turquoise post-it. I don't know much about the properties and behaviors of ink, but this writes perfectly on Apica, Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Mead. Thank you

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
