Lustrous!

A lovely lavender-grey with iridescent silver shimmer that isn't over-powering. I did not get quite the sheen seen in the Goulet pictures where it appears almost silver-leafed, but that could be just that I am using a fine nib or the specific sample I received. (In my experience shining/ shimmering inks need to be Very well agitated to come out of the bottle evenly down to the last fill, and I don't know Goulet's process for syphoning their samples.)

Classy Ink

This is a gorgeous, subtle ink. I love the contrast between the very mild grey colour and the beauty of the shimmer once you hold it up to the light. Don't expect it to be as flashy as some of the other Diamine inks, but if you're looking for a nice, understated grey ink with a special, magical touch to it, this one is perfect. I tried it in a Noodler's Nib Creeper and didn't have any major issues with clogging, but as with most shimmer inks, it would probably flow better in a wider, wetter-writing pen.

Gorgeous ink.

Using in a Lamy Al-Star with an M nib. A ton of shimmer in the right light; have included a photo of it held up to sunlight. That said, it's much more sedate when the light isn't hitting at exactly the right angle. Not a business ink, but would happily use for all personal correspondence.

Love this it's my new favourite

I adore this ink on my hobonichi Tomoe River paper. The shine isn't too overpowering and the grey isn't too pale. It's just the right mix of shine and sophistication. I'll definitely be ordering a full size next time !Goulet pens is my go to for all my ink needs and it should be yours too.

Classy!

A few summers ago I bought a beautiful for fountain pen made by Bryn Jones (Prestige Pens) in Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales. I wanted to find an unusual ink that would be a good fit with for this classy pen. I tried the ink and it works well with the pen even though it's not a broad nib.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
