Part of Diamine’s Shimmertastic collection, this Frosted Orchid purple fountain pen ink features added silver shimmer. Works best with broader nibs on high quality paper to really see the shine. Comes in a 50ml glass bottle.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens. We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging. You will also want to be diligent about cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

Amazing Ink

I like the Diamine Frosted Orchid ink very much. It flows very well. Far better than other shimmering inks I have used, even in my extra fine nibs. The ink dries very quickly. I have yet to smudge it without trying to. The color is a little uneven/non-uniform, which I like. It really makes the ink stand out on the page. And the shimmer!!! It loves to sparkle and doesn't clump. It distributes evenly in my converter with just a few rolls of the pen prior to writing.Overall, This is a wonderful ink!!!

Lovely Purple

A lovely color and the shimmering is very low-key. I use a Monteverde Monza that I fitted with a Goulet stub nib (which I absolutely also recommend). The ink flow with the shimmering ink through the feed, in that setup, can frequently be rough, scratchy, and sometimes streaky. It does result in some awesome shading though (with a deep purple where the ink flowed well and a gentle lilac where it didn't) which I think the shading may be intended because the shimmer is still fairly uniform throughout, even with the line variation.

Lovely ink with a wonderful shimmer

I love the color of this and may have to get a broader nib to fully enjoy the shimmer of this ink. It shows some with an Extra-Fine nub, but having seen it with broader nibs it is even more beautiful. There is some variation in the color if I forget to shake my pen before using it and if the pen has gone unused for a little while (a day), but nothing drastic. It does lean a little more red than I usually like, but the purple-y wine color is very nice. I am a purple fiend and this one is one of my favorites! It has not clogged up my pen a bit and I am on my second fill of the converter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.
