Very wet but pretty color

Pretty good color, but it writes super wet and is extremely slow drying, don't use a nib that's too broad or your paper will soon be a very dark brown/red/black.

More black than red

I was looking for a slightly darker version of Noodler's Red Black, but this De Atramentis Black red is actually black. I think the concept is a line of black inks with subtle hues, but it is so subtle thag cannot see the red in it at all. When comparing the swatch bto other blacks in my collection, I can tell it has a hue to it..... But when used alone on a page this ink is just black. I think it's a good ink, I just didnt have the correct expectations.PS funny because I thought I had had a sample years ago and I didn't remember the ink as entirely black..... Either my memories are confused, or the ink has changed

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
