The Platinum Plaisir fountain pen features a cap which prevents ink from drying, enabling smooth writing even after no use for a whole year. The outside body is made of aluminum and has a superior shiny finish due to its special anodized coating. This fountain pen has a cherry red barrel and cap, silver trim, a stainless steel nib, and accepts proprietary Platinum cartridges (one is included) or a Platinum converter (sold separately).

Great pen

This pen is really a good writer and the red color just makes my day each time I use it. Great price under 30 dollars.

Platinum Quality at a good Price

This pen flows extremely well, but even more exiting is that it has Platinums excellent cap to keep the ink wet for up to a year!

Most reliable pen

I love Platinum Plaisir pens. They are my most reliable pens, never run dry, ink always constant, writes well, good size pen, light, just like I like it, and so easy to use. Best pen for beginners and me! It's super inexpensive but works so well.

Very nice, inexpensive pen.

I got this pen in the fine nib, specifically for use in my logbook for my diabetes journal, which is usually writing in small spaces and requires precise writinitg and lines. Fitness for this purpose is perfect. The pen writes very well in spite of the very fine nib, still quite wet. Very rare to have a hard start or skipping. My one nitpicky gripe is the slickness of the finish itself. On ore than one occasion the pen has slipped or flipped or both out of my grasp and onto the floor, once directly on the nib. Thankfully I was able to get it back to excellent function again so no permanent harm done. However, a slightly more tactile finish might be a good idea, especially for such a lightweight pen. My experience with this pen has been very positive and I have no major issues at all, merely the one wee nitpicky one. I do reccommend this pen as an excellent entry level pen along with the Metropolitan, with a slight edge given to the Metropolitan as it feels much better in the hand while writing. If you're on the fence about this pen, buy it. One thing to be aware of that has no bearing on the function of the pen, but you should be aware of: My Plaisir came apart in the box during shipping and the cartridge and nib unit and barrel were all loose in the box and it took a bit to get them all together again. In spite of this the pen works flawlessly and I am very happy with my purchase.

Great pen

This is a metal preppy, but I found them to be very reliable writers. I cracked the two preppys I bought so I wanted more durable.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill this fountain pen from an ink cartridge? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses proprietary Platinum ink cartridges, which are available in a few colors.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
