De Atramentis Silver Grey

I put this in my Lamy Joy I love the color and the flow!

Made me want to add a gray/grey ink to the herd

How clever of Goulet! I had no interest in gray ink (why would I want a watery black in my repertoire, black is boring!). RO thunderstorm was included in the best-sellers sampler and was the only tube I didn't ink in my pen. Then this ink came as the surprise me! sample. It is lighter than thunderstorm and has a silver look without shimmer or shading. When inking a sketch that I wanted to scan, I realized I wanted a gray instead of black so I can print and try different color schemes on the poster. This ink writes great in my journal, but would like a lighter and more water resistant ink for sketches. No problem with flow, skipping, dry starts in my fine nib Wing Sung 3008.

Good Everyday Ink

After sampling several ?gray? inks, I decided on the D-A Silver Grey. Not too much blue or green tint like some of the others I tried and not too dark. I use it for my everyday journal entry. It dries fast and has good shading. I want to try it in a calligraphy nib to see how that works, I just haven?t gotten around to it. At first I thought I was ?settling? for this ink but, it has really grown on me, 4 stars. Concerning Goulet Pens; what can I say except that they never disappoint next day service and Brian faithfully answers all of my nube questions, no matter how simplistic.

Okay but, doesn't pop

Good color, good tone, dries quick enough. Have gotten used to it even though I was looking that special grey. Better than most.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
