Spaccanapoli, one of the oldest and most iconic streets in Naples, Italy, is not only a place rich in history and culture, but also a source of inspiration for artists and creatives. From this breathtaking backdrop, this exclusive collection of writing instruments is born, each reflecting the essence and spirit of Spaccanapoli. These pens are not simple writing instruments, but true pieces of art, designed to capture the lively atmosphere and unique hues of the city of Naples.

This Delta Spaccanapoli fountain pen was hand turned from a single bar of flecked brown resin, that also has blue throughout. It features a silver clip with a roller, and elegant trim rings with a subtle blue accent. This color is a Goulet Pens exclusive!

It is fitted with a standard international converter and also accepts standard international ink cartridges. The stainless steel #6 fountain pen nib is made by the German brand JoWo. In addition to several standard nib sizes, there is also a flex nib variant that allows you to alter the line thickness by varying the pressure applied to the nib.

Delta, the renowned Italian pen brand that has been creating stunning and distinct pens since the 1980s, has made a triumphant return after it ceased operations in the 2010s. This new Delta brand has been personally revitalized by Nino Marino, one of Delta's co-founders who also owns and manages Maiora and Nettuno pen brands. Each pen is handmade in Naples, Italy, and is individually numbered.

A Bargain!

That's such a great pen for a very nice price. Got mine in Flex-Fine, from the second refill writes like a dream. Pen has a very substantial (but not heavy) feel in the hand. the grip diameter is ideal for those who have big hands. Please be noted that in my experience pens from Delta tend to have a skipping issue when you start using them. That goes away with a thorough cleaning and couple of refills. Awesome instrument!

A pretty smooth road.

This is a very nice pen, as you would expect from Delta. I have no real complaint about the resin other than I had hoped the blue highlights would have been more prominent. They do really shine in the sunlight though. As far as the writing experience goes my pen has an EF nib and it lays down plenty of ink to use in a professional setting to highlight the color of your ink without leaving an overly broad stroke. There is very little feedback but the nib is not glass smooth either. It strikes a happy medium between the two.

This pen is comparable to the Delta Dune in size and performance (about 0.25" shorter). It posts well and is a cartridge converter pen where the Dune is a piston filler. All in all, I am very satisfied with this pen,

Beautiful Italian pen, but....

The Delta Spaccanapoli is a beautiful pen. I purchased the Terra, which has purple and blue highlights in a handsome acrylic with a lustrous finish. However, I was disappointed by the nib, which was quite scratchy right out of the box. I was able to see that the tines were misaligned, and with extreme care, I was able to solve the problem. It's currently writing very well (broad nib), but I can't help but wonder what would an inexperienced user without the knowledge to tinker and repair nibs, feel after purchasing an expensive pen that writes like a nail. I think that Delta should be better at tuning their nibs and making sure that they reflect the prestige associated with the brand. I don't regret purchasing the Spaccanapoli, but I can't in good faith give it the full five stars.

My first Delta

I wasn't sure about the colors from the photos. I am glad I took a chance on this - various shades of reddish browns with blues and a few flesh colored flecks. Unusual but lovely. I purchased this with a broad nib and it writes smoothly right out of the box. Nice comfortable weight in my hand. I would not post this - just feels "off" for me. I am enjoying using my first Delta.

Delta Spaccanapoli Terre

Well balanced, can post but not necessary, overall fit and finish is nearly perfect, grip diameter is generous, of course the resin and trim are beautiful, this will be my new everyday writer as it checks all the boxes. Thank you to Delta for making an affordable and quality instrument.

FAQs about Fountain Pens

How do I fill a fountain pen with ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the pen's filling mechanism, which you can find in the Technical Specs section above.

Here's a quick definition of the most common filling mechanisms:

  • Cartridge - A small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write! Check out our quick guide here.
  • Converter - A detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter. Here's a video for how to fill a cartridge/converter pen using a LAMY pen as an example.
  • Eyedropper - A pen that utilizes the entire barrel as a reservoir for ink. Ink is directly filled into the barrel, allowing for a high ink capacity. Here's a video on how to do it!
  • Piston - A type of filling system that uses a retracting plunger inside a sealed tube to draw ink into a pen. They are typically either twist or push-operated. These pens cannot accept cartridges or a converter, and only fill from bottled ink.
  • Vacuum - A push-style piston that uses pressure to fill the large pen body with ink. They seal the ink chamber when closed, making it ideal for flying without risk of leaking. Check out our video on how to use a vac filler here.

How do I clean a fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the filling mechanism, but it mostly comes down to flushing it out with water, and sometimes a little bit of Pen Flush if the ink is really stuck.

It's a bit easier to show than to tell, so we've put together a few quick videos showing you the process:

How often do I need to clean my fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors.

Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

My pen won’t write! What do I do? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

First things first... make sure you have ink in the pen! Be sure that the ink cartridge or converter is seated properly in the pen, and that you aren't out of ink.

We always recommend you give your pen a good cleaning first, using our Goulet Pen Flush, or a drop of dish soap in some water. New pens often have some machining oil residue left in the feed, so a good cleaning often does the trick first.

If that still doesn't work, try priming the feed. This consists of either dipping your pen nib and feed in ink, or forcing ink from the converter down into the feed.

If it’s still not working after that, please reach out to us so we can help!
