De Atramentis Document

Good substitute for the usual black or blue ink for formal work ☺

Good looking document ink

This ink is pretty great. I like all the de atramentis document inks but this one has a surprising features: it smells like smoke? At first I thought I was crazy but I had my wife smell it and she thought I'd put liquid smoke in my pen. Once it's dry it doesn't really smell, but my pen definitely smells like a bonfire right now.

nice warm brown

I use DA document inks for watercolor sketching. The warm brown color is very useful for nature, for sketching food, or for any situation where black would be too harsh. Using the DA document inks dilution liquid means you can mix a very light brown if you want your lines to be even more inconspicuous. DA Doc inks, in my experience, do not feather on watercolor paper or multimedia sketchbook paper. I've had several Lamy pens loaded with DA document inks for 6 months: no clogs or problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
