Finally found the perfect blue-black

I prefer blue-black on the grayer side and this is exactly what I got. Diamine makes some excellent colors and this is not exception. This, and Terracotta (also from Diamine) are worth trying if you haven't.

Such a beautiful ink!!!

too gray; a bit dull

I tried this in an italic and a fine nib, and it's too gray for my tastes. The ink on the page looks watery, like it's been diluted. I wouldn't really use this color when there's so many beautiful saturated colors to choose from (even saturated grays are better).

In search of: very dry inks that look good

I have a new Delta pen that is extremely wet. Before I send it off to have the flow reduced, I wanted to see if any of the current very dry inks on the market would tame the hose.Based on recommendations from FPN, I selected Prussian Blue among several others in a batch of samples. The ink is indeed very dry, and I like the color a bit better than traditional blue-black inks. Prussian blue is a bit more blue than b-b inks, and doesn't change color over time (so far) like b-b's I've tried.R&K Scabiosa is the only ink I've found so far that is significantly drier than Diamine Prussian Blue, but isn't as much of a work color. I can definitely recommend Prussian Blue when you want a dark blue to slow the flow.

Great color

Great color, but wish it was a bit better behaved and didn't feather and bleed through as much on cheaper paper.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
