A beautiful Red!

I loved this ink sample. It's a beautiful red. It's similar to Noodler Antietam but a little less yellow/brown and more wine red. It dries faster than Antietam as well. Sorry that's my only comparison, it's the only other non-black ink I had in my pens.

A lovely deep red

If you've tried Oxblood and wished it were more of a true red, you should give Rouge Grenat a try - it's a dark and dignified with excellent flow (a pleasure to write with). The shading is subtle but nice. I also appreciate seeing ink of this quality as an affordable standard offering - good on Herbin for that.

Great Color

More rusty than advertised

I was drawn to this ink because I felt like it had a fuchsia undertones, but on the page it leaned more towards a rusty red, not unlike dried blood. Maybe it was the paper I was using.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
