Beautiful inks!

I was expecting some issues to happen such as clogging, over flowing, and difficulties cleaning. However those issues have rarely happened, and thanks to Goulet pens How To guide I was able to fix these issues on no time. I will be buying a larger bottle of some of these inks for sure. The samples come with 2ML of ink, and that is a good bit of ink for sampling. The bottle is small, and if it wasn't for Goulet Pens How To guide showing me how to fill pens with these bottles I surely would've have made a major mess. Gently shaking the bottles for a while gets the ink mixed well and ready for filling. I could give reviews on each color but suffice it to say that these sample sets are very very worth it.

Sparkly Tasting Menu

I've just tested 2 of these out so far, but happy to be able to purchase in small vial assortments rather than committing to a large bottle of just one. I've been using in a Benu Talisman , only partially filling the cartridge, and giving the nib/feed a good cleaning with bulb syringe between inkings. The level of shimmer has been consistent, and overall good flow. With this nib, which is very smooth, I'm getting slightly better flow on not-great paper with some tooth to it. On very smooth paper, such as Claire Fontaine, I will probably go with a pen with a wetter or broader nib. Good performer so far. I find the shimmer level to be plentiful, yet subtle, if that makes any sense, on the ones I've tried so far (Emerald of Chivor and Cornaline d'Egypte), maybe because the shimmer particles are small and mostly visible if I shift the page in the light.

Loved these colors!

I am an urban sketcher and was looking for some new ink colors to take out in the field with me. I really enjoyed all of the colors in the Jacques Herbin Shimmering Full Line in my Fude nib fountain pens. After trying out all the colors I chose Bleu Ocean, but hope to order other colors--stormy grey and caroube in the future.

Beautiful inks

Lovely inks, just the right amount of shimmer, and the sample sizes were really nice. I was surprised that I could fill my converter more than once for each vial! So far this is a great way to decide which one I want a bottle of.

Now a Shimmer Fan

I am having a ball taking Zoom meeting minutes with sparkling ink. But the bling IS subtle, which I like, and depends on the paper used. I might be able to get away with it IRL. The inks are lovely and smooth already, and the the bling hits the light.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute a color in this ink sample set? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

No. We are unable to make substitutions in any of our ink sample sets.

All of our ink samples are also available for purchase separately.

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.
